Since its origins, the Program has maintained close links with society. Its professors regularly carry out research and extension activities with government agencies, public and private companies, most of the time with the direct participation of its student body.

Students are offered facilities such as scholarships, assistance with participation in scientific events, as well as a comprehensive laboratory infrastructure and support for scientific research through research and technological cooperation agreements with the public and private sector, universities, research institutes and development agencies, such as CAPES, CNPq, FINEP and FAPESP. In recent years, the Program has been establishing exchange agreements with foreign partner universities, ensuring greater international visibility for the research of its students and teachers.
