The Graduate Program in Civil Engineering forms Masters and Doctors since 1970, in the areas of Civil Construction, Structures, Geotechnical Engineering and Hydraulics.<\/p>\n
The Polytechnic School of USP was created on August 24, 1893 and excelled in the training of its students, implementation of laboratories and research. The postgraduate course was implemented at EPUSP in the 60’s, being prior to the Federal Education Council’s Opinion 977\/65 and therefore, defined many of the characteristics of other master’s and doctoral courses throughout Brazil.
\nThe teachers of the Program excelled both in Engineering and Research, as well as in administrative activities.<\/p>\n
In the area of \u200b\u200bGeotechnical Engineering several of the former presidents of the Brazilian Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering were or are teachers of the program, such as teachers: Milton Vargas, Victor de Mello, Carlos de Sousa Pinto, Fai\u00e7al Massad, Waldemar Hachich . The Prof. Victor de Mello was also president of the International Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.<\/p>\n
In the area of \u200b\u200bstructures we have examples of national engineering as those of Profs. Tel\u00eamaco Langendonck, D\u00e9cio Leal de Zagottis, Lauro Modesto dos Santos, P\u00e9ricles Brasiliense Fusco, Vitor Souza Lima and many others who contributed greatly to the engineering of our country, through their research work and their applications in major works in the country and in the Outside.<\/p>\n
Hydraulic and Sanitary Engineering has always been considered one of the most important areas of the Polytechnic School of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo, and practically most of the hydraulic structures that make up the electric power generation park of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo were conceived and studied in the Technological Center of Hydraulics. Professors Lucas Nogueira Garcez (former governor of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo from 1951 to 1955), Jos\u00e9 Augusto Martins, Kokei Uehara and Carlito Fl\u00e1vio Pimenta were among the most outstanding professionals. The Basic Sanitation area is proud to have Professors Jos\u00e9 Martiniano de Azevedo Neto, Eduardo Ryomei Yassuda (former Secretary of State from 1967 to 1971) and Benoit de Almeida Victoretti (former mayor of S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 dos Campos, 1951) To 1954), who are responsible for the modernization of the basic sanitation area in Brazil and responsible for designing the main water supply systems and sewage collection and removal systems in most cities of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
